Steel Jack-O'-Lantern Create a one-of-a-kind steel Jack-O’-Lantern while learning the basics of welding and plasma cutting.
Start with pre-cut steel pieces, tack weld your lantern together, create your own face design, and use the plasma cutter to bring it to life. The project is designed as an approachable introduction to equipment in the OriginLabs Welding Lab.

Cork Coasters Design, engrave, and cut your own custom cork coaster set and build a wooden holder to keep them together.
This kit is a great introduction to Adobe Illustrator and laser cutting. You’ll create custom designs, learn how to prepare files for the laser engraver, and get hands-on experience cutting and engraving your finished coasters.

Planning to build at OriginLabs? Kit materials are FREE for University Park Penn State students, thanks to support from the University Park Fee Board. Submit the Material Request Form, and our team will prepare your kit and let you know when it’s ready for pickup.
Community Members
OriginLabs members can request a kit and purchase the materials at cost. Submit the Material Request Form, and we’ll confirm your request and let you know when your materials are ready for pickup.

Can anyone use the Maker Kit instructions and tutorials?
Yes! Maker Kit instructions, project files, and video tutorials are available to everyone for free. You don’t need an OriginLabs membership to access these resources.

Do I need to be an OriginLabs member to make a kit?
You only need an active membership if you’d like to build your project using the equipment and space at OriginLabs. You’ll also need to complete the required training for any equipment used by your selected kit.

How much do Maker Kits cost?
Maker Kit instructions, project files, and video tutorials are totally free. Thanks to the University Park Student Fee Board, Penn State students also are not required to pay for the cost of materials needed for kit completion.
For all non-student OriginLabs members, the only charge is for materials!

Not at this time. Maker Kits are available for pickup at OriginLabs after your request has been confirmed.
